Director.
I’m probably best described as Chief Juggler! As co-director of the company, my responsibilities are broad and varied - I manage clients, run marketing projects, oversee IT, accounts and HR in addition to running day-to-day operations. It’s a pretty busy role.
Marketing Strategist would be fab, but I quite like Chief Marketing Juggler!
My route into marketing was fairly non-traditional as I initially set out to have a career in languages. I have two degrees - the first in German, the second in Marketing with German & Italian. My marketing career has always been within the technology sector. I’ve managed large marketing teams for big companies, worked as a sole marketer for smaller organisations or in a small team for a start-up and also worked freelance. I’m also the Chair of the South East Region for the Chartered Institute of Marketing, supporting fellow marketers with training, advice and career development opportunities.
The highlight of my career so far has been the launch of Marketing Fusion. Virginia (my co-founder) and I knew of each other through mutual contacts but didn’t know each other personally. However, from the day we met we found that we had shared values and a clear vision for establishing and growing a successful business. Six years down the line, it was clearly the best decision we could have made!
My favourite projects are those where we get to be involved from the very beginning, and work from the ground up. I love to draw out a company’s vision for its future and build the strategy and messaging around that vision to help them fulfil their potential.
We’re venturing into the legal sector for the first time, so I’m immersing myself in lots of learning! I love projects where I have to dive in deep and explore something completely new, so this is right up my street. The project will involve branding work, content creation and a brand new website. We are looking forward to working closely with this client to help lead the future of legal technology.
I tend to come at things from a different angle. I'm the quiet one in the corner, thinking, mulling things over, listening to the subtleties of what the situation is, what's needed and how to cut through everything. Attention to detail is important to me - I am analytical and always look for the small things that make the difference. I also make great cakes for the office which everybody loves, and I insist on quality coffee!
I love HubSpot - it’s just great for end-to-end marketing. I rely on it in my daily work, whether that's on behalf of clients or for our own business. We use it for our website, sales and marketing. It enables us to work much more efficiently than we could with our previous assortment of different packages and tools.
We’re really good at telling stories. Marketing Fusion helps B2B businesses tell their stories so that they truly resonate with customers and prospects. Rather than describing products and their features, we focus on how businesses can connect with their customers and make a difference to their working lives.
Dedicated to telling compelling stories.
I would like to take the team to meet my favourite baker and get hands-on with baking sourdough. His sourdough courses are fantastic, even for complete novices. It would be such fun - the team would have to rely on each other, work hard and communicate well, but would have a delicious product to show for it at the end. Six hours on their feet, baking bread in a working bakery. What could be better?!
I am driving up North to pick up my partner who is currently en route from Reading to Leeds, cycling 300 miles in 3 days to raise money for Water Aid. It’s a tough, hilly course so he’s going to be pretty exhausted by the end. I’m incredibly proud of him. If I wasn't doing that, I'd be baking bread or experimenting with new recipes.
Panning for gold in Colorado over 20 years ago when I was out in Colorado working for a couple of weeks. I had some time to myself so I took the car into the Rockies and came across some people panning for gold. It was totally out of my comfort zone, but I asked if I could have a go and got stuck in. Unfortunately, I didn’t find any nuggets to make my fortune, but it was a truly memorable experience.
